Moving is the perfect time to look around and see what you do not use or do not need.

You can donate everything that is in a usable condition and just throw the rest away.

 

If you decide to pack on your own give yourself enough time by packing early. A couple of boxes after work leading up to the move will save you panicking nearer the time! Start by packing items you do not need that often and leave the everyday accessories at the end.

 

Use small boxes for you books, CDs, DVDs or files. Filling up a big box would just make it hard to lift. To save money on boxes asks in your local supermarket if they will be happy to give you some.

 

When packing fragile items use sturdy boxes.  Again do not make them too heavy because they will have to stay on top of something when loaded in the van. Wrap every fragile item individually in packing paper, newspaper or bubble wrap. Make sure nothing in the box shakes and fill up the empty spaces. For your breakables we suggest to buy the best boxes you can buy.

 

If you can afford it leave the removal company to do the packing for you.

 

Personal and sentimental values items such as jewellery, watches, precious stones, money, and important paper should be your possession at all time.

Unless it’s too big or heavy then let the removal men know so they can take special care of it.

 

If you are hiring a professional removal company, book your move at least 1 week in advance to make sure the day you want to move is available.

 

Make sure you reserve a parking space for the removal vehicle as close to your home as possible. That will save you time. It is your responsibility if parking permits are required, no removal companies would take that responsibility.
